The 2020 Session of the General Associates mandated the Department of Medical Aid Services (DMAS) to work with the Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) to constitute a single toll-gratuitous telephone number for Virginia social benefits call centers.

Adoption Services

The purpose of adoption is to place children who have been permanently and legally separated from their birth parents with a new family. It is a social and legal process that gives new parent(s) the same rights and obligations as biological parents.

Developed Protective Services

Adult Protective Services (APS) receives and investigates reports of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of adults 60 years of age or older and incapacitated adults age eighteen or older. If protective services are needed and accustomed by the individual, local APS workers may conform for a wide variety of health, housing, social, and legal services to stop the mistreatment or foreclose further mistreatment.
